Pneumonia in children, avoidable disease

Pneumonia is the acute inflammatory process of the lung parenchyma (tissue responsible for gas exchange), of infectious cause and evidenced by clinical manifestations depending on the age and nutritional status of the child. It is a condition that can be avoided and that its incidence has decreased thanks to the hygienic measures applied to prevent COVID-19.

Helping does not require experience

Every day students from the Carlos J. Finlay University of Medical Sciences in Camagüey knock on our doors to ask and worry about our health. But they are not the only students in that branch who stay up to take care of us after the outbreak of COVID-19. Laboratories, statistics departments and isolation centers are also scenarios in which their learning work impacts from the utility.

Urban agriculture in Camagüey works to supply itself with seeds

The Urban, Suburban and Family Agriculture program in Camagüey promotes the production of vegetable seeds to maintain the crops of such highly demanded products in the territory, after almost two years without the country being able to import them. Among those collected and benefited, to date, they already add a little more than 800 kilograms of seeds, which represents almost 50 percent of what they demand for the year.

In the next few days, the vaccination with the vaccine candidate Abdala will begin, to the different population groups in Camagüey, starting with those 60 years and over without age limits, a segment with the highest risk of complications associated with the COVID-19 disease. As of this June, the Eduardo Agramonte Piña Provincial Pediatric Hospital has a cardiopulmonary-cerebral resuscitation classroom, designed for the training of specialists and residents of intensive therapy for children and the preparation of students of the University of Medical Sciences.
